How do I get their attention…?
This was the question Kevin Muir often asked himself over 32 years teaching in public schools. Aside from the obvious course of juggling flaming knives while riding a unicycle blindfolded through a maze of random explosions and geysers, the answer to this question often came from Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney: “Hey, everyone–let’s put on a show!” Kevin began teaching through doing musicals with his own classes, and then across grades; in 2012 he expanded his educational drama work out into the wider world and thus was born Jester Educational Theater. Today JET performs top-notch musical theater in grade schools that are historically underserved in the arts, the same demographic he spent his teaching career serving.
OUR MISSION Jester Educational Theater performs original musicals about math and social studies with live musical accompaniment in grade schools that are rich in linguistic and ethnic diversity. We light up young souls through the spectacle of musical theater.
